Pilates. As intended.

Authentic Reformer and Full Apparatus Pilates in Downtown Montreal

The complete apparatus system: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Chair & Oov, and Ladder Barrel, taught in small, supervised classes.

Why MTLPILATES

The complete Pilates system, beyond the reformer.

The traditional method, which was called Contrology, is built on a full system of apparatus, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat, each training the body differently. The studio also hosts classes incorporating small equipment like the OOV and the Spine Fitter, designed to challenge deep stabilizing muscles and spontaneously engage the pelvic floor. MTLPILATES offers private sessions on all apparatus including the Cadillac, Pedi-Pul, and Foot Corrector to correct faulty postural patterns or refine elite athletic technique.

New to Pilates

A clear path from your first class to a real practice.

A rigorous, precise and deeply hands-on approach to Pilates, designed to support the body over time.

Who trains here

The place where a method, an experience, and lasting results come together.

The method doesn’t just work the body. It trains proprioception, coordination, balance—recalibrating the neuromuscular system in service of what we call slow aging.

  • A client seen from behind, upper back long and both arms reaching overhead

Regain freedom and joy in movement

Through the right movement patterns, private lessons can empower your life—helping you truly understand which movements to avoid while training, and which ones can make a real difference in your overall movement experience.

  • A client lying face down on the Cadillac, drawing both spring-loaded handles overhead

    Strength that lasts past 35

Thirty-five to fifty and beyond: staying fit, and keeping what founder Veronique Lefort calls long lasting joint congruency. Full System runs three to four mornings a week and moves you across Reformer, Chair and Barrel inside one 50-minute class.

  • A client's spine extended backwards over the curve of the Ladder Barrel

    The Slow Aging class

Past forty and after a slower approach. Spine extension to work against the hunch, hip mobility, spine alignment. It is a real, bookable Reformer class, on the schedule twice a week, both late morning.

Managing a condition? Hernia, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, osteoporosis? Begin with private lessons, with clearance from your physician or physiotherapist.

I have taken more than 50 classes here in the past 4 months and I enjoyed every single one🫶 The space is so cozy and welcoming and each class feels incredibly intentional and purpose-driven. Every movement is thoughtfully programmed and you can really feel the attention to detail in the way the classes are structured. All the instructors that I have taken class from are so encouraging and knowledgable, and I always leave feeling stronger, more balanced and more connected to my body. This is truly one of the best pilates studios I've been to and I will definitely be back here the next time I visit Montreal! If they ever offer online group classes for overseas clients I will be thrilled to join as well! Special mention to some of the instructors I have taken class from - Veronique, Erica, Kimberley and Alexa, thank you for the amazing classes☺️✨

A Pilates Studio True to Its Roots I have practiced at this studio for several years. Though, I have tried other Pilates places, none compare. This is the most professional and most faithful to Joseph Pilates’ original philosophy — Contrology. I especially love its Barrel and Chair works, which no other studio, Pilates or Pilates-inspired, can rival. My confidence in this place runs deep: not only do I train here myself, I have also brought my son, my daughter, and my friends here. That, I believe, is the truest measure of my trust and regard.

I have been a client of this studio for several years, and the experience has been truly exceptional. This new location is beautifully executed, creating an elevated and aesthetic environment. I will always recommend classes with Zayna, Veronique, Erica, and Kimberly to anyone. As someone who has taken over 40+ classes, I feel like a credible source in saying that these four instructors are outstanding. Their attention to detail and ability to guide and teach proper Pilates technique truly set the standard. No matter where I go, this is the studio I always come back to it has become a staple part of my routine.

I’ve been taking classes at this studio for over two months, and it has become my favorite part of the week. The reformer as well as the chair and barrel classes are both challenging and incredibly rewarding. The studio is beautiful, well maintained, and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff is professional and friendly, and Kimberly who I’ve taken most of my classes with is truly exceptional. Her classes are energetic, and her attention to proper posture and form makes a real difference. I highly recommend this studio!!

Really enjoyed my experience at MTL! The staff is extremely friendly Maya at the front desk is so lovely and welcoming. The space is also one of the most stunning I've seen. The room on the top floor in particular has a massive skylight so there's lots of natural light. I tried a chair and barrel class for the first time with the owner Veronique. She was extremely attentive to every single person in the class offering lots of helpful corrections, adaptations and pointers. She was also very helpful at providing direction for how to maneuver the different props and machines. Many of the pilates classes I take are more catered to fitness, whereas this class is extremely focused on form and engaging the small muscles accurately. Definitely think this is a great place for all levels both beginners and advanced. 10/10 recommend!

Why choose MTLPILATES for your practice?

MTLPILATES is a contemporary studio dedicated to teaching the complete apparatus system as intended: Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat. With small, supervised classes, hands-on adjustments, and dedicated prenatal, postnatal and rehabilitation expertise, we provide attentive, personalized guidance in a warm and welcoming downtown studio.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates improves posture by strengthening the deep core and spinal muscles, enhancing alignment and body awareness, increasing flexibility and spinal mobility, reducing neck and back pain and injury risk, and improving balance for everyday tasks. Most clinical programs showing measurable gains run 6 to 12 weeks with 2 to 3 supervised sessions per week.

Are there showers and changing rooms at the studio?

Yes. Changing rooms, lockers and 1 shower are available on the third floor, with washrooms on each floor. Bring your own lock for the lockers. We've got soap—bring your own towel! The amenities are designed so downtown clients can train before work or over a lunch break.

Special mention

To distinguish the studio.

The principles and pedagogical foundation that set MTLPILATES apart.

  • 01

    The Living Method

At MTLPILATES, the method isn’t fixed — it’s transmitted hands-on. Every adjustment, every precise correction, comes from the direct interaction between instructor and body.

  • 02

    Expertise & Pedagogy

Our expertise rests on three pillars: challenging the body on multiple pieces of equipment, the progression, the full system. Nothing is left to chance — every movement fits within a deliberate structure, backed by precise adjustment and constant interaction between method and practice.

  • 03

    Sustainable Body

A sustainable body is built through control, consistency, evolution. It’s the life of the studio itself — week after week — that makes this result possible.

  • 04

    The Long-Term Investment

Results aren’t declared — they’re built over time. Progression, repetition, discipline: that’s the long-term investment the method demands.
